3 Day Summer Horse Riding Tour through Iceland's Golden Circle
3-day horseback tour from Grímsnes to Þingvellir and back. Ride between continents on lava trails, explore Icelandic nature and history, and enjoy meals, lodging, and guided riding with our horses
Ride between continents, across lava fields, and through the heart of Icelandic history.
Set out from our quiet family farm in Grímsnes and experience Iceland the way it was meant to be discovered — on the back of an Icelandic horse. Over three unforgettable days, you’ll ride through untouched countryside, soft river valleys, ancient lava formations, and straight into the Rift Valley of Þingvellir National Park, where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates pull apart beneath your feet.
This is a journey through landscapes shaped by fire and time — and a chance to experience the magic of tölt on smooth trails known only to local farmers and riders.

What to Expect
Your adventure begins at our farm, where you’ll meet your horse and get comfortable with the special gaits that make Icelandic horses so unique. From there, we ride toward Þingvellir on remote trails winding through open fields, moss-covered lava, and panoramic viewpoints over the Grímsnes region.
On day two, we enter Þingvellir National Park, exploring the dramatic rift valley, clear-water fissures, and historic gathering site of the world’s oldest still-running parliament. We’ll pause at scenic locations, enjoy picnics outdoors, and take time to appreciate the geology, stories, and culture that define this UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The return journey offers new perspectives as we ride back across rolling valleys and quiet farm tracks toward home — letting the horses stretch into a smooth tölting rhythm on the final stretch.
Who This Tour Is For
This multi-day riding adventure is perfect for riders with some previous riding experience who want a deeper, slower, more authentic connection to Icelandic nature. Our horses are calm, experienced, and know these trails by heart.
